The very knowledgeable counts Twitter AccountNGT (since deleted for unknown reasons), which had leaked the teaser of Star wars eclipse before its presentation to 2021 Game Awards, shared new information.
From genre to gameplay through history or the presence of a multiplayer mode, here is the latest information about Quantic Dream's ambitious project.
The Last Eclipse
According to AccountNGT, which seems to have contacts within the Spanish studio, the development of Star Wars Eclipse would have started at the beginning of 2021. Despite funding problems, the project is progressing at its own pace but should not be released for several years. . First of all because Quantic Dream has another project in the cards, and because this title stamped Star Wars seems to be particularly ambitious, on the scale of the studio.
According to the information shared by AccountNGT, it would be a non-linear open-world action-adventure game featuring different playable characters, planned for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The title should alternate phases of nervous action à la Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and phases more contemplative or devoted to the development of the story. For the balance between the two, Quantic Dream would have been inspired by the excellent The Last of Us franchise from Naughty Dog.
The development would be shared between the Parisian and Canadian studio of Quantic Dream, one working on the cinematics, the story and the artistic direction, the other working on the gameplay and the integration of a competitive multiplayer. Due to funding problems, the studio would currently lack the manpower to give substance to this colossal project.
It will therefore be necessary to be patient before visiting the distant, very distant galaxy imagined by Quantic Dream.
