While the Tokyo Game Show 2021 ended without a really significant announcement, Square Enix could be preparing a new game behind the scenes Valkyrie profiles.

The publisher has discreetly registered the trademark "Valkyrie Elysium", both in Japanese and English.

The Valkyrie series back soon?

What if Square Enix was preparing a new game connected to Valkyrie Profile? This is what suggests a new trademark registration. As spotted by the Gematsu site, the publisher has registered the “Valkyrie Elysium” trademark in Japanese and English with intended use in the field of video games. Enough to hope for a return of the franchise and, who knows, maybe this time it won't be a mobile game, but a larger project.

The last title to date of the license was indeed Valkyrie Anatomia: The Origin, a free-to-play reserved for smartphones which did not have the expected success and which closed its doors in August 2020. The franchise remains above all known for its two main opuses, Valkyrie Profile released on PS1 in 1999 and its sequel, Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria, released in 2006 on PS2.

However, it may be necessary to be patient before knowing what is hidden behind this seductive name of Valkyrie Elysium. As a reminder, Square Enix had registered the "Chocobo GP" trademark in March 2021 and only announced the game at the Nintendo Direct in September 2021. However, a closer announcement cannot be ruled out since it had to wait a short month between the filing of the brand "Final Fantasy 7 First Soldier" and its presentation. To be continued...
