Le PlayStation Plus will soon make its mutation, but some things will not changeā¦ Indeed, the Japanese manufacturer still does not intend to include its exclusivities in its subscription service as soon as they are launched.
The fact that Microsoft adds all its exclusives to its service from the day of their release has partly forged the fame of Xbox Game Pass. Thus, a subscriber is able to play the latest news for barely ten euros. This strategy is rather advantageous for the consumer, but it does not really interest the competitionā¦ and in particular Sony!
Games necessarily less good?
Upon the announcement of the company's latest financial results, Hiroki Totoki (the head of Sony Financial Group) reiterated PlayStation's stance on not including PlayStation Studios productions in PlayStation Plus at launch. . He states that "if we distribute AAA games on PS5 via a subscription service, we may have to reduce our investment, and we are concerned that this may deteriorate the quality of our first-party games".
Totoki makes it clear that he is not targeting any competitor (the Xbox Game Pass, not to mention it) and that Sony prefers to opt for appropriate research and development costs in order to ensure optimal quality for its games. It therefore aligns itself with the words of Jim Ryan, who had already spoken on this subject last month.
