Since January 12, PUBG is a free-to-play game, and Krafton couldn't be more delighted with the reception that players have given it.

The famous battle royale is thus experiencing explosive growth, comparable to that of its event release in 2017.

PUBG explodes the counters since its passage in free-to-play

A few weeks ago, Krafton indicated the passage to free-to-play of the famous PUBG, which wants to be the ambassador of the battle royale genre. Since its launch in 2017, the game has sold more than 75 million copies on PC and consoles, and went free-to-play on January 12.

Today, the publisher is proud to announce that this same PUBG has experienced tremendous growth in recent days. “The recent transition to free-to-play has not only made the globally popular battle royale title more accessible than ever, but has enabled growth rates similar to those of the game's 2017 release,” Krafton explains.

So, within a week of transitioning to free-to-play, PUBG saw a 486% increase in new players. Krafton says new user growth has even exceeded 535% in some territories, and average playtime has increased by 100% on both consoles and PC. On PlayStation, playtime would have been increased by 400%.

For the occasion, Krafton will organize a “Check-In Dinner Event” to reward its most active players. Additionally, any player who plays the game for at least one hour between 1:27 a.m. on January 00 and 59:30 a.m. on January 00 will receive special rewards each day. Those who log into the game at least three times (until 59:17 a.m.) on February XNUMX will also be able to earn exclusive Orbital Vanguard skins.
