An orb-shaped controller

Just a month ago, Sony Interactive Entertainment talked about virtual reality on its new console without showing anything concrete. The Japanese manufacturer then wanted to make “a significant leap in performance and interactivity” with its next VR system. And this objective materializes today with this controller presented through the famous PlayStation Blog.

With its orb-shaped design, the object in question can be held "in a natural way" since the player will be able to move his hands as he sees fit without ever losing access to the various buttons. The traditional joysticks and other emblematic buttons of PlayStation have thus been placed on the controllers. But the real novelties are inside this device.

A little DualSense side

Among the features of the new VR controller, we find most of the technologies embedded with the DualSense. Adaptive triggers are making a comeback to feel maximum sensations (such as resistance when shooting an arrow), and haptic feedback is also part of the game with the aim once again of perfecting the player's immersion.

That's not all, since the controller will be able to detect our fingers (thumb, index, middle finger) to allow gestures to be made in a game without having to press any button. Finally, a tracking ring located at the bottom of the accessory will capture all the movements of the user. Developers should be able to create experiences that are both precise and immersive.
