PlayStation Studios have just welcomed a fourteenth team to their ranks. Thus, on the eve of a Playstation Showcase eagerly awaited, the Japanese firm confirms the takeover of Firesprite.

Last June, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) already offered Housemarque, the Finnish company behind the recent Returnal. A few days later, it was the acquisition of Nixxes Software that made the headlines (and we are still waiting for that of Bluepoint Games). Thus, this week, the manufacturer lifts the veil on a new name that joins the famous PlayStation Studios.

welcome to the family

Via a post posted on the PlayStation Blog, SIE confirms the takeover of the Firesprite studio. Based in Liverpool and founded in 2012, the company has collaborated several times with Sony on projects such as The Playroom (PS4), The Playroom VR (PS VR) and the mobile game Run Sackboy! Run! From today, the English studio will aim to develop exclusives for the manufacturer's platforms.

The studio's 250 or so employees are currently working on a new shooting license and on a narrative adventure game with different script branches. These two titles are classified in the AAA category. We may know more this Thursday at the PlayStation Showcase. Case to follow!
