Result of a successful Kickstarter campaign and released on September 2, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous had a great launch week.

The Owlcat Games studio and META Publishing have indeed announced via a press release that their latest C-RPG has already sold more than 250 copies on Steam, GOG and Epic Games Store. A great feat for such a modest studio, and results doubled compared to the launch week of their previous project, Pathfinder: Kingmaker.

A legendary launch

The Russian and Cypriot studio Owlcat Games can therefore congratulate itself on a great launch week for its new C-RPG, moreover very well received by players, as well as by critics, as evidenced by its test in our columns.

“We have been working hard for several years to make Wrath of the Righteous a game that lives up to our ambitions. Thanks to the phenomenal support obtained during the Kickstarter campaign, we were able to go even further. We wanted this to be a defining moment for C-RPG fans, pushing the genre to new heights, with mechanics that bring the flexibility and freedom found in tabletop adventures. We are happy that players and critics felt this desire and even more,” says Alexander Mishulin, Creative Director of Owlcat Games.

It is clear that the studio has outdone itself with this title, which is more epic and mature than its elder. It also pushes the concept of managing cities, and now armies, even further. With these elements, Wrath of the Righteous is undoubtedly a serious competitor in the world of C-RPGs, especially for D&D fans.

The adventure is not over yet

However, this is only the beginning of the Wrath of the Righteous adventure for Owlcat Games. Already offering a campaign that easily exceeds a hundred hours, this new opus should subsequently accommodate its share of additional content, like Pathfinder: Kingmaker. For newcomers, the studio has prepared a developer diary introducing the game's story to help them better dive into this Mythic story.

As noted in particular in our test, the new title from Owlcat Games still suffers from particularly annoying bugs. With three patches already deployed since its release and more to come, this defect should however eventually be resolved.

And these already encouraging results could be brought to grow even more, since Wrath of the Righteous should be entitled to an adaptation on PS4 and Xbox One on March 1, 2022. It is also planned on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S via backward compatibility.
