Despite the loss of many historical sponsors, theOverwatch League is already preparing for a 2022 season in April, which will use an early version ofOverwatch 2.
The sequel to Blizzard's successful FPS, announced during Blizzcon 2019, can thus be put to the test of professional teams. This could augur a version accessible to ordinary mortals in a more or less close stride.

The Cavalry is coming to the pros next spring
Two years after its announcement, Overwatch 2 has since seen many twists and turns. Starting with the departure of Jeff Kaplan, replaced as director by Aaron Keller. Last May, a livestream presented us with a multiplayer pan now opposing two teams of five heroes, including a single member of the Tank category. Category which should in return be completely reviewed in order to justify this choice.
On the professional scene, the Overwatch League is not really looking good either. Following the case initiated by the Californian justice against Blizzard, many historical sponsors have chosen to withdraw their support. Despite this blow to the finances of Overwatch's most publicized esports competition, a 2022 season will indeed take place.
This will start, like the previous ones, next April. It will also inaugurate an early version of Overwatch 2. The opportunity to see the game in action in the hands of the elite of competitive MOBA / FPS from Blizzard. It is also a way of saying that the development of the game is progressing well, which could augur an official release in the spring or summer of 2022.
In any case, this is what we wish for the Overwatch Team and especially for the fans, who have found themselves for several months without the injection of substantial content on the first opus.
