Launched on 1er last april, Outriders managed to attract a lot of people to its servers (which had a hard time keeping up). But if success is likely to be there, certain aspects of the title published by Square Enix raise questions...

This is particularly the case of the impossibility of pausing the game on machines other than the PC.

No NVIDIA, no break

Remember that the title is developed by People Can Fly (Bulletstorm) and that it is a third-person shooter, playable in cooperation. Thus, players team up to defeat hordes of creatures using their unique weapons and powers that vary depending on the class selected. The concept of Outriders is therefore quite classic, but it has hit the mark. It must be said that the arrival of the software in the Xbox Game Pass as soon as it was released helped a lot.

Either way, Outriders isn't free from flaws. Indeed, the servers have been very capricious in the face of the influx of players, but that's not all! In an article, the Kotaku site explains that the game cannot be paused outside of machines using an NVIDIA graphics card. The title, even if it is playable in solo, requires an internet connection to work, which simply prevents the user from stopping during a game.

Thanks Ansell!

While this pesky restriction affects PlayStation and Xbox gamers, PC gamers can get around it by using the Ansel feature on their NVIDIA GeForce card. This software is initially used as photo mode on games that do not offer it natively. When launched, Ansel automatically pauses the title using the "ALT F2" command. And Outriders is compatible with this tool.

Thus, not everyone is in the same boat and this impossibility of playing offline to activate the pause is quite disappointing since, during the marketing campaign, Square Enix had also pressed the fact that its game could be enjoyed alone. Outriders is available on Xbox, PlayStation, PC and Stadia consoles.
