Nintendo Switch is approaching 90 million units shipped worldwide

But who will stop the uncontrolled rise of the Nintendo Switch ?! This is the question that we are entitled to ask ourselves as the machine from the Japanese manufacturer seems unstoppable in terms of its global sales.

Thus, Nintendo took stock of the results of its hybrid console at the end of the first quarter of the 2022 fiscal year. The figures communicated by the Japanese giant were therefore stopped on June 30. And of course, the machine released in March 2017 is selling like hotcakes!

An almost insolent success

This week we learn that 89,04 million Nintendo Switch have been shipped worldwide (an increase of 4,45 million since March 31, 2021). Please note that this figure should not be confused with that of direct sales to consumers, which exceed 85 million copies sold. At the end of March, Nintendo announced that it had reached 81 million units.

In short, the Nintendo Switch is not very far from the Wii and its 101 million consoles sold in 10 years of existence. However, the purely financial results are weaker than those obtained during the same quarter in 2020. The company's net profit fell by 12,9% (714 million euros) and turnover by 9,9% (at 2,5 billion euros). But no need to worry since this end of the year will be rich in new features with in particular the Nintendo Switch OLED, Metroid Dread, Advance Wars 1+2 as well as the remasterings of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.
