The very serious Nikkei reports that Nintendo would have been forced to lower the production of its Switch.

The fault, once again, with the shortage of components.

Not enough Nintendo Switch for Christmas?

Even though Apple has just modified its production lines to favor the iPhone to the detriment of the iPad, at Nintendo, the shortage of components is forcing the Japanese giant to revise downwards the production of its Switch. It is the very serious Nikkei which confirms the news, announcing a lowered production of about 20%.

As a result, Nintendo will not be able to meet its initial target of 30 million Switches produced by the end of March 2022. To see now if the firm will manage to sell the 25,5 million machines planned for fiscal year 2021-2022. Last year, 28,83 million consoles found buyers.

Remember that the Nintendo Switch is preparing for its fourth Christmas, the console having been launched in March 2017. In 2021, interested parties will be able to find no less than three distinct models in stores: the basic model, the Lite version dedicated to the most nomads, and finally the recent Switch OLED. Provided obviously to do it early enough, since it's a safe bet that the traditional “toy race” at the end of the year will also concern the Nintendo console.

However, with tens of millions of sales worldwide, and with more than four years already on the clock, the Nintendo Switch should face, and it is logical, a slightly lower demand over the coming months. September 2021 saw Nintendo Switch sales drop by more than 35% compared to last year.
