Criticized since its release in 2017, the version Steam of the most excellent Never: Automata will receive a patch soon.

Victim of severe review-bombing since the release of a presumably better version on Xbox Game Pass PC last March, the Steam version of NieR: Automata is finally getting the attention it deserves.

YoRHa fallu le temps!

Ported to PC via Steam in 2017, the masterpiece by Yoko Taro and Platinum Games, published by Square Enix, has caused a lot of ink to flow for four years. Downscaled resolution, windowed display stuck, frames per second cap sometimes stuck at 30, very poorly thought out keyboard/mouse controls: the problems with this port were numerous.

While a few fixes have since been applied, most NieR: Automata fans had to rely on the modding community to get the full experience. Among the most popular mods, it was possible to play with better keyboard / mouse controls, in a resolution higher than 1080p, without downscaling and in full screen. But for that, it was necessary to go through GitHub and to carry out relatively complex manipulations for neophytes.

2B patched soon

If the situation has stagnated for the past few years, it was the arrival of the game on the Xbox Game Pass PC that put a severe kick in the anthill. It appeared at first glance that this version was much better than the one on Steam, with in particular better resolution management and a full-screen display in mind. After further investigation, it finally turned out that the Game Pass PC version was actually not much better.

Even so, this resulted in a tidal wave of negative ratings against the version present on the Valve platform, in order to react to Platinum Games and Square Enix. It seems that the operation has paid off, since the NieR Twitter account has announced the development of a patch expected soon.

If we don't have any details yet on what it will contain, let's hope that this patch will arrive concomitantly with the release of NieR Replicant ver.122474487139, in order to take full advantage of the very touching narrative fresco of the genius Yoko Taro.
