For 2K Games, the PC is a “ previous platform ” in the same way as the PlayStation 4, Switch and other Xbox One.
The transition from one generation to another of home consoles is always the occasion of a time of “friction” for PC gamers. Indeed, on certain multi-platform games, we feel hesitant publishers, reluctant to offer the same content on PC and on new machines, the famous next gen. Electronic Arts has already confirmed its intention to treat the PC as a second-class platform on FIFA 22, 2K Games is now following suit.

Four editions, four prices
Through a long press release returning to the situation of NBA 2K22, its highly anticipated basketball simulation, 2K Games actually clarifies things in terms that may not pass. While talking about the standard edition of its game, the publisher divides the world into two categories: "new generation" consoles (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S) on the one hand, "previous platforms" (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC) on the other.
2K Games has not yet detailed the specifics of the next gen version of its game, simply stating: "with the most advanced visual presentation and AI of the players, historical teams and a wide variety of experiences of basketball, NBA 2K22 puts the entire universe of basketball in the hands of the player. However, this year's improvements will probably only affect a small segment of players.
To make matters worse, even if it's already less surprising, 2K Games does not seem to have to offer a cross-platform mode. NBA 2K22 will be released worldwide on September 10. It is also interesting to note that 4 prices will be offered: €69,99 for the standard version on "old stuff", €74,99 for the same edition next gen version, €84,99 for the digital cross- gen which gives access to both generations on the same family of consoles and, finally, €99,99 for the NBA 2K22 75th Anniversary NBA edition.
