Microsoft releases an uninhibited documentary on the history of Xbox

Announced during the event celebrating the 20th anniversary of the brand, Xbox has just released a documentary in six chapters of 40 minutes, entitled Power On, looking back on its rich history.

From the four “renegades” who germinated the idea of a Microsoft console to Xbox Series X|S via the old models and Halo, the legendary FPS franchise that would propel the brand, or the infamous Red Ring of Death of the Xbox 360 and other setbacks encountered in 20 years – Xbox presents its entire history to us without taboos.

The history of the Direct X-Box

After a virtual museum and numerous accessories, including a controller, Xbox is completing this pivotal year in its history with a long documentary produced by ten100 and directed by Andrew Stephan. This traces in four hours of videos the incredible story of a crazy project initiated by four "renegade" working at the time on DirectX and in which no one at Microsoft really believed. A project launched to compete with the Japanese giant Sony which, with its PlayStation and its other products, risked overshadowing the American giant in the living rooms.

We therefore discover in six chapters the different stages that Xbox has gone through to get to where the brand is today. There have been ups and downs, some of which are best known as the chaotic presentation of the very first Xbox, or the terrible Red Ring of Death feared by all Xbox 360 owners.

Those interested can therefore find the first episode at the top of this article, and the following ones on the official Xbox YouTube channel, cited in source below.
