Announced at E3 2021 last June, the expansion for Microsoft Flight Simulator and inspired by the feature film will finally be delayed. And for once, the reasons are not related to development concerns.

In December 2020, Microsoft formalized the arrival of its piloting simulation on Xbox Series X|S. A version that has nothing to envy to its counterpart on PC and which is available now in the Game Pass for console players. Of course, Asobo Studio will deploy new content for Flight Simulator in the coming weeks and a DLC is particularly expected. This one will bring different elements from the movie Top Gun: Maverick.

For simultaneous takeoff

Initially, the feature film starring actor Tom Cruise was to land in cinemas at the end of the year. Unfortunately, Paramount Pictures announced a postponement this week. Thus, Top Gun: Maverick will not finally be released until May 27, 2022. Consequently, the expansion planned for Flight Simulator is also affected by this delay since it will be made available on the same day as the film.

For the moment, we don't have any information regarding the content of the DLC… And that shouldn't change for quite some time. In the meantime, the World Update focusing on Austria, Germany and Switzerland will be deployed for free on September 7 on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
