Metroid Dread: barely released on Switch, the game is already emulated in 4K on PC

Just days after its exclusive release on Nintendo Switch, Metroid dread is already fully playable on PC in 4K via two emulators.

The YouTubeur Gaminja proves it in video by comparing the Yuzu and Ryujinx versions of the emulated game, all with a relatively modest configuration.

Direct sequel to Metroid Fusion released almost twenty years ago on Gameboy Advance, to say that a new 2D Metroid was expected is an understatement. So much so that Dread has generally been very well received, especially in our columns.

Exclusively planned for Switch, Samus' latest adventure didn't wait very long to be fully emulated on PC. The opportunity to run the game in 4K with better performance than on the original console.

To do this, it would seem that it is no longer necessary to have a state-of-the-art configuration. To carry out its comparison between the two emulators on which Metroid Dread has already been ported, Gaminja presents a rather modest machine these days, capable of running the game at 60 constant fps.

As a graphics card, a GTX 1060 seems to be more than enough, while, on the processor side, Gaminja armed itself with an Intel i5 8400. However, it had 16 GB of RAM. Nothing amazing in itself, and that is more than enough to make Samus twirl fluidly in 4K on the very recently released Metroid Dread.

However, it is worth remembering that the use of an emulator is only legal if you own the original game. Otherwise, such a practice is piracy and is therefore sanctioned as such by law.
