Mass Effect: the next opus teased on the occasion of N7 Day

On the occasion of November 7 (or N7 Day for friends), Bioware celebrated this special day with fans of the cult franchise. Action-RPG Mass Effect.

The studio was thus as much interested in the past, with Mass Effect Legendary Edition in particular, as in the future, reminding everyone that a fifth opus is somewhere in the stars.

A look back…

While N7 Day is usually a day of jubilation for Mass Effect fans, this year's edition was much more modest. Indeed, Bioware is currently mainly occupied with the development of Dragon Age 4 at the still very obscure release date, so much so that it may not be released on PS4 and Xbox One. Even so, November 7 was a time to rejoice in more ways than one for the cult sci-fi franchise.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition has indeed been very popular at the Citadel, as evidenced by the very detailed statistics shared by the studio. Statistics focusing in particular on the various major choices made by the players, for example the decision concluding with a high point in the third opus.

Bioware also took the opportunity to share with the galactic community various elements such as GIFs, emoticons stamped Mass Effect on Steam, and many others. In addition, Mass Effect Legendary Edition is being promoted for the occasion until 19 p.m. tonight on Steam, Origin and the Microsoft Store. It is thus offered at a price of 39,59 euros instead of 59,99 euros.

… before looking to the stars and the future

But the highlight of N7 Day was the teasing of the fifth opus via an image, admittedly cryptic, but which clearly indicates that it is still in production. All we know for now is that it could bring together the plots of the trilogy and the controversial Andromeda. It could also be that the Frostbite engine will be left out in favor of the Unreal Engine.

On this visually very seductive image, we can see a group of four explorers leaving a shuttle and heading towards a crater that looks like the face of a Geth soldier. Further analysis tells us that a Krogan is one of the four characters and that the body of a Geth lies a little further away. It could be the body of Legion, one of the most interesting companions of Mass Effect 3.

Fans will be able to speculate at length on this image, which will certainly not lack subtle references to what the fifth opus has in store for us. As for an official announcement from Bioware, it will however be necessary to be armed with (a lot?) of patience. But regardless, as this teaser points out, Mass Effect continues…
