Far, far away in the galaxy of major licenses, there is a certain Mass Effect. Greatly absent since 2017, after an episode Andromedhas contributed to losing the confidence of fans, the cult series from Bioware now puts all its hopes on the next opus.

After Dragon Age 4, which has just given its news, it's the next Mass Effect's turn to show signs of life.

Mass Effect 5, not for now?

In December 2020, Bioware finally decided to lift the veil on the next chapter of Mass Effect. If the title has generally been shy since this first teaser, with the exception of the dissemination of artwork during N7 Day 2021, now Gary McKay, CEO of Bioware, has just clarified some details on its development.

We first learn that this next episode of the saga is still only at the prototype stage. This means that it has not yet entered the key stage of production and that the elements that will constitute it are still being developed. A step that, once completed, will determine the direction that this new episode will take. The project team is led by Bioware veteran Mike Gamble.

McKay recalls that AAA productions require a lot of time and that the priority of the studio, with the next Mass Effect, remains quality. It is easy to imagine that after the Andromeda case, the teams became more aware of the importance of allowing themselves this time, particularly with such a popular and appreciated license.

As you will have understood, it will take a lot of patience before you can get your hands on this next Mass Effect. A sizeable bet for Bioware which, after Dragon Age 4, will have to restore its letters of nobility to the science fiction saga.
