After his surprise announcement last weekend, Kingdom Hearts IV gives us some more or less concrete information about it. This concerns in particular the game engine which should change along the way.

It is through a trailer that the fourth opus of the Kingdom Hearts saga was unveiled this Sunday, April 10. Square Enix hasn't spent much time on the subject since development is in full swing and the game shouldn't arrive for several months (years?). Fortunately, a few indiscretions and speculations have emerged in recent hours.

A Galaxy Not So Distant

It is the Japanese magazine Famitsu which opens the ball by declaring that the Kingdom Hearts IV trailer presents a version of the game running in real time under Unreal Engine 4. Nothing very surprising since Kingdom Hearts III was already using this engine. However, Famitsu claims that Square Enix plans to rock this fourth episode before its release on the Unreal Engine 5. Thus, the visual rendering should quite logically change in the coming months.

Finally, a brief passage from the trailer (0:35) could indicate that Sora will have the opportunity to wander through the Star Wars universe for the very first time. We can see what appears to be the foot of an AT-ST in the middle of the forest (see photo above). This suggests that a level of Kingdom Hearts IV could take place on the planet Endor. Case to follow!
