2021 is its vintage, its best year. The Danish studio IO Interactive has just published the results of its fiscal year, and everything leads us to believe that independence is working out rather well for it.

Dumped out of Square Enix's cup after redeeming itself in 2016, the studio can thank a certain bald guy with a tattooed neck for the excellent results he's signed this year.

All lights are green for IO Interactive

The company's fiscal year, which ended on March 31, enabled it to record a turnover of 78 million dollars. An increase of 136% over one year (33 million dollars in 2020).

Included in this figure is a net profit of around $42 million, which again marks a substantial increase over the previous year ($1,8 million).

A printing press that is running at full speed, therefore, and a studio delighted to have regained the independence that allows it to capture almost all of the jackpot. Performance that the Danes owe in large part to the Hitman 3 box, which would have generated in revenue the equivalent of 300% of its production costs.

In the medium term, IO Interactive hopes to double its workforce to reach 400 employees between its studios in Copenhagen, Malmö and Barcelona. The studio is currently working on a James Bond game, additional content for Hitman 3 and a mysterious "Project Dragon" in partnership with Microsoft.
