Horizon Zero Dawn is now playable in VR. On PC at least, because discovering the post-apocalyptic lands of the Wild East requires a little sleight of hand.

More than a year after its port to PC, Horizon Zero Dawn welcomes a mod that should be of great interest to owners of a VR headset.

The specialist in virtual reality mods does it again. After allowing players to explore Night City from Cyberpunk 2077 or Los Santos from GTA 5 in VR, Luke Ross is tackling one of the most popular games on the PS4: Horizon Zero Dawn. Available only through her Patreon page, this new VR mode explores the Wild East through Aloy's eyes. The result is rather striking but still imperfect.

Our colleagues from UploadVR tried the experiment with a 3070 Ti and the mod could not exceed 45 frames per second, which is often problematic in the case of a VR game. It is indeed not without constraints. For example, it is only playable by means of a classic controller such as the DualSense and the aiming in the bow will be done imperatively with a movement of the head. Question intuitiveness, we have seen better. Those who have tested it also point out some gameplay limitations, such as hiding in tall grass that makes it difficult to track down enemies and shoot them effectively.
