We had to wait five long years between the first and the second opus of the Horizon saga. But the endless wait of the fans will have been rewarded by this excellent continuation that is Forbidden West. Without saying too much (But watch out for the little spoiler!), we can underline the fact that the end of the game absolutely does not come to conclude the epic of Aloy. The adventure ending on a cliffhanger, many are those who hope for a third episode…
Aloy will be back!
In an interview granted to the VG247 site, Mathijs de Jonge, the creative director of Horizon Forbidden West, did not go overboard when referring to the end of the game. He explains that "[...] this game ends on another big cliffhanger, with which we are again preparing some things for the next game”. In short, a statement that confirms that Guerrilla Games has already prepared the ground for a Horizon 3.
Given the success of the license, it's a safe bet that Sony will give the green light to the development of a sequel (if it has not already been done). But in the meantime, the franchise will return with a spin-off titled Horizon Call of the Mountain. This virtual reality opus will be released on the PlayStation VR2.
