Waiting for February 18 on PS4 and PS5, Horizon forbidden west continues to unveil what awaits us, this time with a blog post dedicated to its open world.

Aloy's second great adventure should thus take place in a much more lively Forbidden West than what we saw in Horizon Zero Dawn.

A more lively and coherent open world

After revealing Aloy's new abilities and the robotic creatures she will have to face, the communication around Forbidden West takes to the heights to introduce us to the open world to come. More particularly about the settlements and cities in which Aloy will stop during his journey to the West.

If the first opus had already succeeded in proposing a marked identity for each colony and important tribe, Guerilla Games intends to go even further for the second opus. The studio wants to offer total immersion to players for its ambitious new title. This will notably pass through colonies influenced by the culture of the dominant tribes who live there. Or even by a narration via the environment, in particular thanks to tones of colors or behaviors of settlers specific to each place.

As the main example, the blog post dwells on Chainscrape, one of the first settlements that Aloy will visit in her new adventure. It will be an Oseram outpost, good old Erend's tribe. Aloy will have to stop there to meet many members of this tribe, learn more about their culture or obtain multiple tasks.

Adapt to unknown lands to survive

For Aloy, however, it will not be a question of rebuilding her life in a colony to the west of her native land. She is indeed entrusted with an important mission, which could be helped by these halts in the colonies paving the way for her. Depending on the tasks she can perform there, she will be granted equipment that strengthens her arsenal or her chances of survival in the wild.

The attention to detail on the armor and equipment made by different tribes, already present in Zero Dawn, should in Forbidden West be even more remarkable. This will also reinforce this feeling of immersion and belonging of a colony to a given region, the tribes having adapted to their environment and to the surrounding threats.

As such, upgrading her gear will require Aloy to track down machines that have adapted themselves to their surroundings. All this in order to make the vast open world of Forbidden West cohesive and as authentic as possible.

A few months before its release, the game will not fail to reveal other secrets in order to whet the appetite of those eager to find Aloy in a new adventure that promises to be as sumptuous as it is epic. , currently exclusively on PS4 and PS5.
