After several days of controversy over the impossibility of switching from the PS4 version to the PS5 d'Horizon forbidden west, Sony had to backtrack. The Japanese manufacturer also spoke about its strategy for its future productions.

The opening of pre-orders for Horizon Forbidden West will have been hectic. Indeed, PS4 players quickly realized that it was impossible to get the PS5 version without paying full price a second time. An unexpected turnaround

But faced with the instant rumble of players, the Japanese firm had to review its copy. On the PlayStation Blog, the president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Jim Ryan, himself, said that the upgrade from the PS4 version to that available on PS5 will eventually be free. A great victory followed by another statement that will undoubtedly divide the community once again.


Thus, Jim Ryan took the opportunity to confirm that the upgrades of the next God of War and Gran Turismo 7 will be charged at $10 (probably €10 in Europe). Note that this technique will be valid on a dematerialized or physical copy. But in the latter case, it will be necessary to have a PS5 equipped with a Blu-ray player in order to insert the disc.
