It is well known: the world ofHorizon has become a grouping of hostile territories since the apocalyptic events that reached it. A danger that is all the more significant sinceAloy, the heroine of the game who recently had the right to an in-depth presentation, is about to tread the lands of the forbidden West.
Even though Aloy will have a brand new arsenal and techniques, the monsters encountered are not so much monsters to be slaughtered as creatures trying to protect their territories. It is in particular on this subject that the Guerrilla Games teams have published a new burst of information on Horizon: Forbidden West, expected for February 18 on PS5 and PS4.
An increasingly varied fauna
Just with the first episode, namely Horizon: Zero Dawn, the Guerrilla Games teams had managed to develop 25 different machines. According to Blake Politeski, main designer of the machines, and Maxim Fleury, main graphic designer of the elements, this figure should increase thanks to the unprecedented fauna of this second part.
Admittedly, some of the creatures already encountered in the first episode, such as the Watchers and the Scuttlers, will still be there, but new species will make their debut in February on Sony consoles, including the Galop-claw or even Helion's Wing. In general, each creature is inspired by mammals or animals that have existed during the history of the Earth.
Now considered the guardians of this world, they have an important role in the ecosystem of the game, because they constantly interact with the environment, but also with humans. If the two developers have their preference, they hope that players will be able to assign a dear place in their hearts to some of the species present in this second installment.
A danger not to be underestimated!
So yes, these metallic creatures are of paramount importance in the world of Horizon, and even more so in this forbidden West, but they are also akin to a real threat in Aloy's quest that she will have to understand and apprehend, then confront in extreme cases.
Because, indeed, thanks to the heroine's new abilities, the creatures can be put to good use if you take the time to observe them or hack them to have access to new data on the new lands of this opus. Moreover, certain features such as 3D audio will be valuable allies in understanding creatures.
Nevertheless, it will sometimes be necessary to face them to progress and some of them, like the formidable Strike-defense that we have already glimpsed, will give Aloy a hard time. With many weapons and colossal strength, these kinds of metal mammoths are dangerous weapons of war.
So, be patient and observe them well to overcome them, because therein lies the difficulty of the heroine's journey: fighting hostile wildlife while preserving the species that work to protect the rest of this world.
