Initially planned before the end of the year, Horizon forbidden west preferred to delay its release in order to perfect itself. If PlayStation exclusivity is finally expected for February 18, Guerrilla Games has been intensifying its communication around the game for several days.
First with a trailer at the Games Awards 2021, then first images to illustrate the PS4 version and finally a trailer presenting the machines of the game. It was without counting on new shots and details from the magazine Game Informer, where the next big PS5 cartridge is in the spotlight.
Up to six roles in the skill tree
One of the most juicy bits of information concerns Aloy's skill tree, which will offer more options and flexibility than before. More concretely, it will include six different styles of play, each representing a specialty:
- The Warrior, focused on melee combat;
- L'Infiltrée, which focuses on stealth;
- The Huntress, specializing in ranged attacks;
- The Mistress of the Machines, pro hack;
- The Survivor, who will focus above all on health and resources;
- La Trappeuse, who masters the art of trapping.
Each of the categories will include 20-30 unlockable skills and a unique "Surge of Bravery", a new mechanic introduced by Horizon Forbidden West that allows the heroine to wreak havoc with her spear.
More than just gameplay info, Game Informer has shared exclusive footage showcasing first and foremost a new area called the “Daunt”. This canyon located to the east of a Carja territory acts as a camp where players can “accelerate certain game mechanics”. Aloy will make a last stop there to visit its markets and stalls before leaving for the prohibited West.
