PlayStation has kept its promise since the State of Play this Thursday, March 17, 2022 was an opportunity to discover gameplay for the highly anticipated Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy. And we can say that the magic lit up our evening for a good quarter of an hour.
This presentation allowed us to dive into the heart of the countless possibilities offered by this unprecedented journey into the world of the famous magician with round glasses.
The wizarding world and its riches
The Hogwarts Legacy adventure will take place towards the end of the 1800s. Thus, we will not have the opportunity to cross paths with Harry Potter and his friends during our schooling. Here, the player embodies a student who enters directly into fifth year at Hogwarts. A character editor will allow us to customize our hero and the famous Sorting Hat will show us our house.
Yes, Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world since it will be possible to explore the famous school and its surroundings (including Hogsmeade and dungeons located outside Hogwarts). The 4K gameplay footage captured on PS5 is available below. It dwells on different aspects of the game such as combat, exploration in general, courses, upgrades to unlock and much more.
As rich as a good book!
The WB Games Avalanche teams wanted to create an authentic, vast and, of course, magical wizarding world. This vast playground can be explored on foot but also by broomstick or even on the back of a Hippogriff. Environments will change with the seasons and a dynamic weather system is also planned. The walls of the school contain dozens of secret passages and places never seen in the movies like the Hufflepuff common room or the kitchens occupied by house-elves.
But we must not forget that Hogwarts Legacy is above all an action-RPG. It therefore includes its share of potions to concoct, objects to craft, skills to improve and loot to loot everywhere. Sidekicks will also be able to accompany our hero during his adventures. It will be necessary to get to know them and use their abilities in order to cast devastating spells. A joyful bestiary of fantastic animals will also be present!
A wizard with a well-hung wand
This State of Play dwelt for a long time on the fights which will probably occupy a very important part of the adventure. In Hogwarts Legacy, our wizard will have the chance to take advantage of a wide range of spells. Incendio, Petrificus Totalus, Accio and other forbidden spells will be at our disposal. All this without forgetting a form of ancient magic of which only our avatar has the secret... Blocking enemy attacks with Protego and performing dodges will be all techniques to favor in order to survive against goblins and malicious wizards.
Finally, if Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy has not yet revealed its release date, we now have a launch window set for the end of 2022 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. Warner Bros. Games also left us a little making-of video to wait.
