With the upcoming release of the version PS5 et Xbox Series X| S, Grand Theft Auto V will have known three generations of consoles: a considerable longevity for an extraordinary title. However, a recent rumor points to a potential delay in the release date of the next-gen version which seems to need a little more time than expected.
This new version of the game, announced in June 2020, was originally supposed to be released last November. However, Rockstar took advantage of the September PlayStation Showcase to announce a postponement of a few months.
To not reproduce the GTA: The Trilogy effect?
Unfortunately, at the time, this presentation had raised more a wave of discontent than real jubilation on the side of the players, raining dislikes on the videos posted by the New York development studio. Soon after, the release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition did not improve matters between the two camps.
Rockstar's aura has therefore been tainted in the past few months, which could influence the release of the next-gen version of GTA V, as dataminer "Matheusbr9895_" on Twitter suggests. This reports a complicated development that could lead to a further delay in the release of the game.
Note that the postponement should not be too important: scheduled for March, the next-gen version could arrive, instead, in April or May. However, and as is often the case with rumors around GTA, these remarks are to be taken with great caution, because the user has not provided his sources and does not have as much credit as other well-known insiders of the environment.
However, the idea of ​​postponing the release of GTA V on PS5 and Xbox Series X | S is not totally absurd given the negative feedback collected during the launch of the trilogy last November. So, Rockstar might want to give themselves some extra time to polish the job. Case to follow!
