Heavily criticized following the update reducing credit rewards in Gran Turismo 7, Polyphony Digital makes amends and announces a new update.

On the PlayStation Blog, Kazunori Yamauchi announces that the next update to Gran Turismo 7 will rebalance the reward system in many situations. We also learn more about the next changes, expected “in the short term”.

The studio assures that the players “do not speak in a vacuum”

Before going into the details of the changes that will be brought by the update in early April, Kazunori Yamauchi apologizes for the frustration generated by the recent changes and the lack of clear explanations.

These had drastically reduced credit earning, while crashing the game's servers for more than a day. Noting the unpopularity of the update, Polyphony Digital explained that this choice had been made in order to reinforce the exceptional nature of obtaining certain cars, which had not convinced the community.

In order to make amends, Polyphony Digital is offering all players who log in before April 25 a pack of one million credits. "We know that this is not the Gran Turismo gaming experience you expect, and we will be doing a gesture of goodwill towards you," added the studio's president.

Revised credit gains and more

When the next update, which goes live in early April on PS4 and PS5, rolls out, players will see an overall increase in the number of credits awarded across the various game modes. This should speed up progression and the unlocking of new vehicles, this last element being central to the Gran Turismo experience:

  • Increased rewards in the second half of Worlds Circuits events by around 100% on average.

  • Added high rewards for completing the Circuit Experience with All Gold/All Bronze results.

  • Increased rewards in Online Races.

  • Inclusion of a total of eight new one-hour Endurance Race events in Missions. These events will also give greater rewards.

  • Increased the maximum limit of unpurchased credits in players' wallets by 20 M Cr. to 100 M Cr.

  • Increased amount of Used and Legend cars available at all times.

As a pledge of good faith, Kazunori Yamauchi goes further and talks about the next updates, which are planned in the short term, but whose online date has not yet been revealed. First good news, it will soon be possible to sell the cars, which was not the case despite the mention of this feature on the game box.

The studio also plans to increase the rewards obtained during temporary events, to add endurance races to missions (including 24-hour races), or online time trial races, to which rewards will be attached. related to the difference between the player's time and the shortest time achieved.
