Gran Turismo 7: a making-of for Sony's simulation

On March 4, 2022, fans of motor racing simulations will be able to discover the long-awaited Gran Turismo 7. In the meantime, Kazunori Yamauchi, figurehead of the license, lent himself to the making-of game.

A good opportunity for the director to declare his love for motorsport and pretty bodywork.

"One of the finest industrial products"

After a Gran Turismo Sport which focused its content on the competitive aspect, Polyphony Digital says it and repeats it: Gran Turismo 7 will be a real homecoming. The cult license is now facing competition from all sides, in particular by Forza Mortorsport, and the next opus will have to convince. To do this, the studio shows the full extent of its love for motorsport.

In the video presented to us, Kazunori Yamauchi evokes the immensity of automotive culture, which ranges from aesthetic appreciation to the pleasure of driving, passing through the mastery of overpowered cars created all over the world. These are the aspects that the developers of Gran Turismo 7 want to highlight.

This is why, with images from the game in support, Yamauchi mentions the possibility of collecting a large number of vehicles, of customizing them, of taking many photographs of them thanks to an ultra-complete mode, or even of making them more efficient via the purchase and installation of many parts. According to the iconic director of the license, this diversity and this completeness will allow players to enjoy the title in different ways, on PS4 as on PS5.

Content that promises to be gargantuan

When released, Gran Turismo 7 will feature over 400 cars, just under 100 different tracks in 30 locations around the world. As usual, players will be able to discover a single-player campaign in which they will have to participate in races to obtain credits, which will then be used to buy and improve new vehicles to progress. On the multiday side, which will be cross-platform, Polyphony said it learned a lot from GT Sport, but we are still waiting to learn more and, more generally, to see some gameplay.

These two main categories will be accompanied by the GT Café mode, which will allow you to collect cars and learn a lot about them. According to Yamauchi, this is an important mode that can allow enthusiasts to experience even more. Remember, however, that a permanent internet connection will be required in both solo and multiplayer, in order to avoid any type of cheating according to the studio.
