What was supposed to be a simple celebration turned into a fiasco. The anniversary event of Genshin impact does not make everyone happy, and the fans have made it known. So much so that the free-to-play ultra popular is the latest victim of a review bombing.

In question, awards deemed unworthy of the event. Faced with the tumult, miHoYo comes out of his silence and reacts.

Like any good self-respecting game-service, Genshin Impact celebrated its first anniversary with a dedicated event. While other productions have been more than generous with rewards pouring in every which way in hopes of bringing back players lost along the way, Chinese gacha fans have found the studio to be somewhat stingy.

For its anniversary event, Genshin Impact has opted for a 7-day daily login reward system that allows you to recover a total of 10 wishes, useful for summoning characters and obtaining other in-game items. This does not satisfy the community, which feels that miHoYo does not score enough with gifts that are too meager. For example, it takes 90 wishes to be able to summon a 5-star protagonist. In addition, fans consider that the studio had been more generous to celebrate the 6 months of the game's launch with a festival that allowed to obtain a 4-star character for free.

To express their displeasure, disillusioned fans turned to review bombing. This practice consists of knowingly lowering a game's rating and leaving negative comments in the hope of causing the developers to react. On the Play Store, Genshin Impact went from a rating of 4,7/5 to 3,3, in the space of a few hours. A number that even dipped below 2/5 for a while as the comments section was flooded with complaints about the rewards. A situation that was repeated on Honkai Impact 3rd, the studio's previous game.

Google and miHoYo react

Faced with the major uproar, Google was forced to step in to remove negative comments from an army of bots or disgruntled gamers over the anniversary event. The Mountain View company is doing its best to clean up Genshin Impact's Play Store page, but the RPG only has a 3,1/5 rating at the time of writing.

Another point that annoyed the fans: the prolonged silence of miHoYo. However, the studio finally split a comment with TheGamer a few hours ago. “We pay special attention to the various feedback regarding the first anniversary of Genshin Impact. The opinions of players and fans are very valuable to us, and we want them to continue the adventure with us and accumulate even more precious memories in Teyvat,” the developers told our colleagues. miHoYo says they are working on other ways to celebrate the first anniversary, including an online concert and giveaways to express their gratitude.
