After two years of digital editions, Gamescom is ready to reopen its doors in 2022.

A physical edition which will mark the return of the event and its opening ceremony in person, but with a smaller audience.

Gamescom will reopen in Cologne

Back to normal for Gamescom. E3 may serve as an exception, but 2022 promises to be the great return of physical gatherings in the video game industry. While the Tokyo Game Show or the GDC have already confirmed an edition of their face-to-face events, it's Gamescom's turn to do the same. The German show will open its doors to professionals and the public in Cologne from August 24 to 28.

Please note, however, that there will be fewer places than in 2019, the pre-pandemic edition which had reached a record 370 visitors. The event will nevertheless retain the digital activities implemented over the past two years, and its traditional opening ceremony rich in announcements hosted by Geoff Keighley. The Opening Night Live will be held on the evening of August 000, 23 in a hall built during the pandemic and will be broadcast live. It now remains to determine who will be the first exhibitors, the organizer admitting that “some companies still need more time, but the demand is there”.
