Forza Horizon 5 has many problems on PC, how to fix it?

Enthusiastic in more ways than one, Forza Horizon 5 However, it is not free from more or less embarrassing problems that it is fortunately possible to circumventā€¦ for the most part.

Appreciated, not acclaimed by critics, Forza Horizon 5 is nothing less than the best rated game of the year as our Thibaut can testify, who awarded it a remarkable 9/10 simply regretting a "take minimal riskā€. To avoid spoiling anything, Microsoft and Playground Games have ensured a quality launchā€¦ but there are still various gray areas.

Loyalty rewards that cannot be unlocked

To reward its most loyal players, Playground Games has set up bonuses that are unlocked if you have previous Forza. Unfortunately, these loyalty rewards are currently encountering a problem that does not allow them to be unlocked. A problem that unfortunately affects both PCs and Xbox consoles.

Playground Games has acknowledged the bug and specifies that indeed, in some cases, the rewards do not unlock as expected, stressing that this affects the McLaren P1 2013 in particular, this being linked to having played Forza Motorsport 5. The studio clarified that an update should soon remedy the situation before encouraging players affected by such problems to report the matter via a ticket on technical support.

Random crashes

More annoying from a strictly playful point of view, Forza Horizon 5 is also the victim of crashes in its PC version. Crashes that are obviously difficult to specify for Playground Games insofar as they seem to affect very different configurations from each other. The studio says that in the majority of cases, this seems to come during the intro of the game, with no error codes visible.

Of course, the first recommendation is to check that your PC meets the required configurations put forward by Playground Games. While waiting to find a more concrete solution, the studio has published a long list of various programs that could have an impact on the overall stability and therefore encourages victims to uninstall them or, at least, disable them to play Forza Horizon 5.

Various problemsā€¦ which we hope will soon be resolved

Like most PC games, Forza Horizon 5 also suffers from more localized problems, bugs that could be described as more minor even if they remain annoying. Failing to offer immediate solutions, it is interesting to see Playground Games do not hide and even openly publish a list of recognized problems published on the Forza support page.

Thus, some players are experiencing flickering issues with reflections in water. The concern would be related to a ā€œsmallā€ configuration and limited to AMD graphics cards only. Still at AMD, but on integrated graphics solutions this time, there is a problem with textures on car dials. Finally, transparency problems are observed on certain elements of the cars on PCs equipped with AMD GPUs.

Playground Games mentions a bug preventing the appearance of artificial intelligence pilots during Horizon Stories, while another bug limits the speed during the exploration phases if all pilot assistance has been activated. Also, several commands (Alt+Enter or mouse clicks) may not work as expected.

Less serious, but still good to know, capturing via the Xbox Game Bar's dedicated tool may result in partly black recording and on first launch Forza Horizon 5 may not launch the auto graphics detection tool or not matching the definition of the game with that of the Windows desktop. Color management is also quite buggy, users of ultra-wide screens having noted chromatic aberrations.

Do not hesitate to consult the complete list of problems recognized by Playground Games: even if the studio has not yet communicated an update date, it is a safe bet that the thing will not take too long. Remember that if you encounter a bug that is not listed, it is best to report it to technical support.
