Fortnite Chapter 3: new black hole, map, mods... everything we know (already)

In a few days comes the new season of Fortnite, which will also mark the start of Chapter 3, notably after a live event called "The Fin", which will take place on December 4 at 22 p.m. Spanish time. But what do we know about the new features to come on the Battle Royale from Epic Games? We take stock.

Already more than four years since Fortnite has turned all heads, to the point of sometimes creating riots and drama in the cottages when it closes its doors for a few days.

The Epic Games game has become a real phenomenon, so much so that each of these events becomes an unmissable event, not to mention the multiple crossovers with various universes such as Star Wars, Batman or recently Naruto. Inevitably, when a new season is announced, our curiosity begins to stir, and when in addition it also signs the arrival of a new Chapter, the excitement is at its height.

A move to Unreal Engine 5

This is one of the expected novelties of this new chapter: support for Unreal Engine 5! What does this mean concretely? Without leaving aside players who do not have a good machine to run Epic Games' new in-house graphics engine, the studio will update one of its best ambassadors.

It's a long-standing promise, which will therefore materialize shortly, even if Fortnite is already taking advantage of most of the "technical" innovations of recent years in gaming, including DLSS and Ray-Tracing. This arrival, Epic has been teasing it for several weeks, in particular with the addition of a skin representing the heroine of the real-time demo of its new engine, but with "Fortnite" sauce and its very cartoonish side... which could well be abandoned afterwards!

A new, more realistic map?

The Unreal Engine 5 demo aside, one of the hypotheses put forward by some game specialists, as well as several leaks, is that a big change is brewing on the map side. If within the seasons, Epic Games adds some slots, modifies others, the Chapters allow you to reset the counters to zero.

And this new card from Chapter 3, it could have been known for a long time already. In the "Zero Point" event that marked the start of Chapter 6 Season 2, we discovered several realities, one of which was very reminiscent of the UE5 technical demo, with very realistic graphics. Could this actually be a preview of what awaits players once "the end" is reached in this chapter?

The return of the black hole?

As with the transition to Chapter 2, Epic Games should probably cause a kind of end of the world to make way for a new map. Various dataminers have thus been able to discover the presence of assets linked to a new black hole, but this one should be significantly different from the one we have seen so far, and be directly linked to the concept of the Zero Point. .

This ball of energy governing the parallel worlds could explode again thanks to an attack from the Queen Cube - the very one who will be at the heart of the event this Saturday 22 p.m. in game. Such an explosion which could also sign the return… of the Seven!

The return of the Visitor… and of the Seven?

It doesn't show like that, but the Fortnite universe is consistent in more ways than one. The multiple skins suggest the opposite, and yet, since the third season of Chapter 1, a red thread story is well in place with the Zero Point precisely, but also the Seven, beings who travel from parallel worlds to parallel worlds to avoid the worst, while a secret organization precisely seeks to control the spatiotemporal faults.

All of this together means fierce battles on the island of Fortnite… and high-flying events! In the new chapter, the title could thus celebrate in one way or another the great return of the Seven, and more particularly of the Foundation, a man who prevented the Zero Point from exploding in season 6, but also of the Visitor, who had blown up the island in Chapter 1 along with his other friends. It is not yet known if it is these two representatives of the Seven who will again be called upon to act, but the information found in the game files clearly refers to it.

Mods and mounts

Finally, difficult not to mention the last two rumors to date, but which nevertheless require taking tweezers: the arrival of mods and new mounts.

In the first case, the usual dataminers have seen the appearance of a "Creative Mode 2.0", where players could modify a map, its weapons and its loots in real time, but also benefit from dedicated software to create their own cards on their side, without necessarily being in play. This new version has been announced for a long time, so it could be released in the coming days.

For the second, it is now a habit: Epic Games adds to each Chapter and season new ways to move on the map of its Battle Royale. We had the carts, then the golf carts, without forgetting the cars, planes or even mechas, but for this new Chapter, the studio would plan to offer wild animals! You will probably have to tame them to be sure you can ride them.

Not forgetting Christmas!

It's a tradition in Fortnite: the end-of-year celebrations allow you to enjoy snow on the map, but also gifts! It remains to be seen whether everything will be included in a dedicated scenario – we remember in particular the winter event of Chapter 1, where the lord of the mountain had unleashed a storm on the map, which was then covered with snowflakes.

This is what we can say about this future Fortnite Chapter, the first elements of which will be known at the same time as the event on December 4 at 22 p.m. We'll see if the dataminers were once again right!
