For sad reasons, a developer encourages hacking his game

Since the start of Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February, it has become difficult for Russian gamers to obtain games legally. Of which act: the developer of Loop hero encourages them to hack his game.

Openly opposed to the conflict, the Four Quarters studio offers solutions so that Russians can continue to enjoy its game, while urging them to provide financial support to loved ones or people who really need it.

A torrent shared by the studio itself

If Steam (unlike the Epic Games Store and many others) is still officially online in Russia, players have a hard time validating their purchases; bank card networks being mostly cut in the country.

Moreover, and for the same reasons, the studios are therefore unable to receive the fruits of their sales in their bank account.

So many reasons that motivate Four Quarters to push its compatriots towards the illegal downloading of Loop Hero. “We are very grateful for your help, but the truth is that everything is fine with us,” the studio wrote in a post on VK, the local Facebook. "Send this support to your family and friends during these difficult times."

The independent studio goes further, and even shares a link leading to a torrent allowing its game to be hacked via RuTracker.

Let's hope the move doesn't cause more problems for the studio than it already risks. The Vice site recalls that, since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine, the Russian government has been hunting down dissenting voices. And Four Quarters said on February 24 that it was "opposed to war".
