The first days of Final Fantasy XIV have not been easy for Square Enix. But the Japanese publisher has done well to insist with its MMO. Indeed, this slightly different opus is enjoying a surprising resurgence in popularity!

When it was released in September 2010, Final Fantasy XIV went through an area of turbulence that could have been fatal! But after several months of patches, the MMO got back on track in 2013 with its version 2.0 titled A Realm Reborn. Since this period, quality expansions have followed one another and the game has managed to consolidate its community!

A performance out of nowhere

This weekend, Final Fantasy XIV broke its personal attendance record on Steam with no less than 47 players connected at the same time. The June 542 record, set at 2020 users, is therefore largely beaten. But the most surprising thing about this story is that this increase in attendance figures does not coincide with the deployment of an extension or new content.

However, as explained by IGN, such interest could find its origin on the side of the streamers who desert the servers of a certain World of Warcraft. An exodus that would be caused by the long wait for the 9.1 Chains of Domination update. Many content creators would then have turned to other MMORPGs, such as Final Fantasy XIV… And Square Enix is not going to complain about it!
