When announcing Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade and its exclusive DLC dedicated to Yuffie, many feared that Square Enix would take the opportunity to cut out its story at will in order to save time. But Tetsuya Nomura, director of the first part of the remake, reassures in an interview with Famitsu.

According to him, Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade acts as a kind of exercise for his teams, who thus familiarize themselves with the hardware of the PlayStation 5 to develop the next part of the remake there.

A unique DLC before FFVIIR: Part 2

No, Square Enix is not going to give us “an FF XV” again. In other words: wipe the plaster of a chaotic development by cutting its story into more or less convincing DLC. The adventure dedicated to Yuffie, which will be offered as part of Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade (the PS5 edition of the game) will be the one and only DLC before the release of the second part of the game.

According to Nibel's translation on Twitter, the Famitsu article even suggests that no DLC was actually on the program. But that, practicing to manipulate the hardware of the PlayStation 5, the teams finally took a step aside to provide this new edition with a little treat for fans.

Additional content that is ultimately quite generous, since it will include not only a new playable character, but also new exclusive summons and materials.

Thus, the Battle Royale Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier is presented as an attempt by Square Enix to reach a new audience, layman of the license. Several character classes will be available, each with their own abilities. But Square Enix aims above all to demonstrate its graphics engine on smartphones, and already promises exceptional visuals.

Finally, Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis, with its crazy project to create a compilation of all the plots related to FF VII and its spin-offs, will be free. But Nomura specifies that the game will embed some “gacha” mechanics, like Genshin Impact. Clearly, some weapons, materia and summons will require players to checkout to take advantage of them. As to whether this will represent a compulsory passage to progress or if the whole game can be played without spending a penny, only time will tell.

Finally, Nomura in his usual teasing science promises other information dedicated to Final Fantasy VII during the year… and the year after.
