In recent years, Embracer Group has acquired several big names in the video game industry. And the Swedish ogre does not intend to stop there, since other acquisitions have been confirmed this week.

Behind Embracer Group, we find firms well known to players. Saber Interactive, THQ Nordic, Koch Media, 4A Games and Gearbox Software all belong to this same group. Today, the multinational declares that it has reached an agreement with Perfect World Entertainment to acquire 100% of the shares for the trifle of 125 million dollars.

Significant additions

By disbursing 60 million dollars in cash, then another 65 million in shares, Embracer bought out all the subsidiaries of Perfect World Entertainment. This includes offices in the United States and Europe. Thus, the Swedish company takes control of 237 new employees and a large number of licenses. In this list, we find Torchlight, Remnant: From the Ashes and even Neverwinter, Star Trek Online and Champions Online via Cryptic Studios.

This studio will operate in complete independence while being placed under the leadership of Gearbox Entertainment on the publishing part. So Cryptic Studios' work on Neverwinter will continue. Finally, Embracer Group has also acquired Dark Horse Media, a firm specializing in the publishing of comics, manga and other derivative products inspired by the biggest video game licenses.
