Clues before confirmation?
The PlayStation Studios family has grown significantly this year. Housemarque, Firesprite, Nixxes Software, Bluepoint Games and more recently Valkyrie Entertainment have definitely been enlisted under the banner of the Japanese firm in recent months. And at the heart of this month of December, yet another hypothetical takeover is causing a lot of talk.
To conclude 2021, Sony has produced a video that brings together all the content produced / distributed by its teams this year. PlayStation logically occupies an important place in this clip… But the presence of a title raises some questions. Thus, Kena: Bridge of Spirits appears there without having been edited or produced by Sony. If this appearance is perhaps only related to the fact that Kena is a PlayStation console exclusive, many players still wondered if the firm was not teasing a potential takeover.
A favorable context for a takeover
It must be said that the first partnership between Ember Lab and PlayStation was successful. The two companies joined forces in 2017 and Sony did not hesitate for a second to provide PS5 development kits to the small Californian studio then without experience in the world of video games.
Also, the boss of PlayStation Studios himself said that Ember Lab is already working on its next game, which will use the features of the PS5. While it is still too early to confirm a takeover, it is certain that the two companies will work hand in hand in the near future.
