Elden Ring: a mod fixes many problems on PC... at your own risk

Less than a week after its release and awaiting an official patch, Elden Ring can already count on modders to improve the PC version… but it comes at a price.

During the first days, the Steam page of FromSoftware's latest action-RPG recorded a wave of negative ratings due to major problems on this version.

Ahh, Hope in sight, but trap!

You may be one of the unfortunate people who had some difficulty playing the PC version of Elden Ring. Many Shardless have reported outliers on this platform, even with very strong builds. We can notably cite a cap at 60 fps, an immutable FOV, the absence of support for ultrawide screens, or even crashes and untimely freezes.

Shortly after the game was released, modder uberhalit crafted a downloadable mod on Github (source link below). This allows you to unlock the 60 fps cap and the FOV, but also to run the game on ultrawide screens. This goes through a specially dedicated launcher, which comes with a few bonuses, such as the possibility of not losing your precious runes after death (a welcome but not essential help, given the fact that a farm route allows you to get it very easily and quickly).

However, all of these benefits come at a price that some may not be willing to pay. First of all, the use of a special launcher places the game in offline mode. Then, since it contains bonuses that can be considered as cheating, the risk of seeing its copy banned by using this mod cannot be excluded.
