2021 has been a busy year for Double Fine Productions. The studio led by the charismatic Tim Schafer notably launched the excellent Psychonauts 2 last August… And the teams are already looking to the future.

It was a long road to the release of Psychonauts 2. Passed through crowdfunding in 2015, this long-awaited sequel took six long years to reach us. Fortunately, the quality was there since the new adventures of Raz are among the best games of 2021. Also, Double Fine Productions now belongs to Xbox and the future projects of the American studio are becoming slightly clearer.

Everything for creativity

In a post on crowdfunding platform Fig, Double Fine said development on Psychonauts 2 is definitely over. The studio is now turning to other projects and the workforce has even been divided into several teams for the occasion.

“The studio is already dividing into several teams and launching different projects that you should like. We love experimentation at Double Fine. Each game is a chance to explore new ideas, new visual or gameplay styles, emotions and more. »

Last August, Tim Schafer already expressed his desire to work on something “surprising”. With games like Brutal Legend, The Cave, Broken Age and of course Psychonauts, we have to admit that the studio has always been able to surprise players.
