At Gamescom 2021 held last August, dokev has made a sensational entry into the video game world, against a backdrop of K-Pop music, even going so far as to offer us one of the most beautiful shots of the digital living room. At that time, a rather long extract had allowed us to familiarize ourselves with his universe.

Today, it is with the IGN site that the developers of Pearl Abyss have clarified certain points, such as the open world and the creatures of DokeV.

An ode to adventure and exploration

In the space of four minutes, DokeV's island lands have managed to dazzle us with our first look at two towns, including White Whale Town, from the game. However, DokeV lead producer Sangyoung Kim assures us that this is only a tiny part of what will be possible to explore within the game.

To give us an idea of what has been seen so far, the producer estimates that the Gamescom trailer reveals only 10% of the entire playground offered by DokeV and that a whole heaps of scenery and environments are yet to be discovered.

With an oversized map, DokeV aims to entertain players by offering them great freedom of exploration with a plethora of means available to discover every nook and cranny: jet skis, umbrella-shaped gliders, cars, bicycles , skateboards and even alpacas! But not everything has been revealed yet.

The world of DokeV will also benefit from a day-night cycle and dynamic weather according to the seasons. The focal point of Pearl Abyss' game, the open world of DokeV, currently in development, aims to become even bigger and richer by the time it is released.

Folk monsters born from dreams

However, Pearl Abyss' game did not want to rely solely on its open world to create a sensation. By presenting us with a system of creatures to capture and evolve alongside us, a link with the Pokémon franchise was quickly established.

In reaction, Sangyoung Kim reminded that DokeV will not offer an experience similar to that which can be had through a Pokémon or, in the same genre, a TemTem where the fights are central and oppose the players. .

In DokeV, the famous creatures called Dokebi, a name derived from the term "Dokkaebi", are actually a physical materialization of people's dreams and are inspired, among other things, by Korean mythology where they are considered spiritual beings.

Our character, one of the few people able to see them, will go in search of them to fulfill their dreams and befriend them by collecting clues about them and completing specific tasks. From there, the Dokebi who will accompany us will be able to help us in combat and for a whole bunch of other activities still unknown.
