Dinga Bakaba, director of Deathloop, receives a great promotion within Arkane Lyon

Dinga Bakaba, the visionary behind the latest FPS by Arkane Lyon Deathloop, was named its director.

He thus takes the place of his predecessor Romuald Capron, while retaining his position as co-creative director within the Lyon branch of Arkane.

Break the Loop

Dinga Bakaba made his debut at Arkane Lyon in November 2010 as a developer. He notably participated in the creation of Dishonored first of the name and its DLC. He then rose through the ranks to become chief designer for Dishonored 2, whose excellent soundtrack, among other things, inspired our Now Playing column linked to fear in music.

We recently knew him more commonly as the director of Deathloop, Arkane Lyon's latest game. A title generally acclaimed by critics, but with mixed commercial success, especially on PC due to instability problems, partly corrected by a patch. More generally, Deathloop received its first major patch last month, aimed at addressing some of the game's shortcomings such as a very uncombatable artificial intelligence.

Romuald Capron, his predecessor at the head of Arkane Lyon, left his post in October, shortly after the release of Deathloop and seven months after the acquisition of Bethesda by Microsoft. Eleven years after his arrival at Arkane Lyon, Dinga Bakaba therefore receives the ultimate consecration by being placed at its head.

Congratulations to him for this great promotion, and we wish him a great career in this position for one of Lyon's greatest video game prides!
