Five months after a closed alpha session, Diablo Immortal talk about him again through a closed beta which will launch tomorrow from two o'clock (Paris time).

Exclusive to Android tablets and smartphones, the closed beta of Blizzard's famous hack'n slash mobile version promises many hours of demon-slaying with touch controls... but not only! Here's everything you need to know to have a chance to participate and what to expect.

How do I participate in the Diablo Immortal Closed Beta?

As its name suggests, the closed beta of Diablo Immortal will not be accessible to everyone and will last several weeks. Indeed, it will only be possible to participate if you are invited by Blizzard. To hope to win this sesame, it is necessary to register on the official site of the game. On the home page of this one, you will find the button "I register now" which will take you to the bottom of the latter.

Another button will allow you to register, provided you have an active Battle.Net account. Once the procedure is complete, all you have to do is wait for an email from Blizzard on the address linked to your account. The closed beta being exclusive to Android devices, you will also need an account on this platform and a compatible email address, or failing that, a Gmail address. A Google Play notification with more information will be sent to you if you received the invitation.

It should be noted, however, that the launch of such events for Blizzard games rarely allows ordinary mortals to obtain access from the start. It happens more frequently that the first invitations are sent to the press or to content creators sworn by Blizzard. However, be aware that getting an invitation is also not totally impossible. Additionally, multiple waves of invites may occur over the weeks that the Closed Beta will be active.

A content-rich closed beta

If you were able to get your hands on the closed alpha of Diablo Immortal or have consulted our preview concerning it, you will find that the closed beta is rich in content: new class, new PvP and PvE modes, new equipment, integration of purchases in game and, finally, (partial) support for controllers which is the subject of a first test. Here are all the novelties in detail.

The Necromancer joins the party

An oh so popular class in the Diablo universe and absent from the closed alpha, the Necromancer is about to raise a veritable army of the dead in the closed beta of Diablo Immortal. He thus joins the Barbarian, the Crusader, the Demon Hunter, the Monk and the Sorcerer, already available. Like the latter, he will have many skills to compose with, offering a clever mix between the versions of Diablo II and Diablo III.

Plenty of new PvP and PvE modes

Cycle of Conflict, one of Diablo Immortal's PvP modes, gets a new game mode called Immortal's Challenge. This adds a new stone to the edifice of the factional war between the Immortals and the Shadows.

The best Immortal of a given server will have to defend his title against around thirty Shadows, taking on the formidable form of a raid boss, with all the powers that implies. If the Immortal is ever defeated, the Shadows will then have to slash each other in a kind of Battle Royale. The last survivor will thus become the new Immortal of the server.

A ranking system for the eight-vs-eight PvP Battlegrounds system will also make its way to the Diablo Immortal Closed Beta, with rewards for each rank you climb.

On the PvE side, the closed beta of Diablo Immortal will not be outdone either. From now on, most of the contents of the Reliquary, the so-called endgame part of the game, will only be accessible via raids with up to eight players, for even more chaos. Rest assured for the loneliest Nephalems, the solo content will always be substantial, and it will also be possible to participate in raids without being part of a group thanks to a group search integrated for the occasion.

The equipment part of the game awakens

With the raids also arrive fundamental elements of any self-respecting Diablo game, namely the pieces of equipment sets per class. These will provide significant bonuses to certain skills, which will drastically boost the power of a given build. Each set will only be obtainable in a specific raid, providing a clear walkthrough on how to obtain them.

In addition to the equipment sets, the legendary gems also see their functioning evolve. Once at level 10, a legendary gem embedded in a piece of equipment of the same rarity will "awaken" the latter, giving it a particularly classy appearance. Level 10 gems can also be upgraded to provide better overall stats.

The market is open in the closed beta

In addition to all this, the closed beta of Diablo Immortal will be an opportunity for its participants to discover the first purchases offered in game. In addition to the Battle Pass in free and paid form, logically more advantageous, other elements such as currency in-game or promotional packs will be offered.

According to Blizzard, this is mostly a first draft to see how the offers and prizes will be received. The studio also insists that these purchases are purely optional and that the game can be enjoyed as much by not spending a single penny. As progress during the Closed Beta will be erased upon release, any purchases made during the Closed Beta will be refunded as in-game credit.

Controller support being tested for closed beta

Finally, and this will probably be good news for those who are allergic to touch controls, partial support for controllers will be tested during the closed beta of Diablo Immortal. Partial support, as it will only concern controls in combat for the moment. Navigation will be done exclusively via touch controls.

However, not all controllers will be supported from the start, but others will be added as development progresses. For now, here are the controllers that can be used during the closed beta:

  • Manette Xbox One Bluetooth sans-fil ;
  • Manette Xbox Series X|S Bluetooth ;
  • Manette Xbox Elite Series 2 ;
  • Manette Xbox Adaptive ;
  • Manette Sony DualShock 4 ;
  • Razer Kishi.

"Stay awhile, and listen to me"

So here you are fully informed about what the closed beta of Diablo Immortal exclusive to Android devices offers. Hoping that you will receive an invitation to see all this for yourself. As a reminder, it will be necessary to show a little patience before the official release of the hack'n slash on mobile, this one having been postponed to the first half of 2022.
