Here's a little controversy that Sony probably didn't see coming. The director of Days Gone (who left the company after the launch of the game) tackled the Japanese manufacturer after its refusal to launch the production of the second opus.
This week we learned that Ghost of Tsushima has sold over 8 million copies. A real success for the title of Sucker Punch which probably did not please everyone. On Twitter, Jeff Ross, who was director of Days Gone at Bend Studio, strongly defended his game, which Sony chose to abandon by canceling a sequel which had nevertheless been proposed by the teams of the American studio.
An incomprehensible disappointment?
In his tweet, Jeff Ross compares the sales of Ghost of Tsushima to those of Days Gone. He specifies that the latter has sold more than 8 million units in just a month and a half. To this good result is added the million copies sold via the Steam version. However, while Sony is pleased with the results of the exclusivity signed Sucker Punch, Ross specifies that the manufacturer has always expressed its disappointment with the commercial performance, however better of Days Gone.
Ross adds that an extremely ambitious sequel should see the light of day by resting on the foundations established by the first opus. A bit like Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and the first Killzone which were littered with flaws before reaching an exceptional level of quality thanks to their respective sequels. Days Gone should unfortunately not be so lucky.
