CD Projekt RED is recruiting for what could be a new open world project

The Polish studio is looking for additional collaborators to work on a new open world game… which it has yet to announce.

CD Projekt made a name for itself with The Witcher trilogy published between 2007 and 2015. However, last year, the Polish studio encountered many problems with the release of Cyberpunk 2077. Concerns which are not yet completely behind him since, for example, the next-gen versions (PlayStation 5 / Xbox Series X|S) have not yet been released.

Probably not related to Cyberpunk 2077

An eventful news which obviously does not prevent the Polish team from thinking about the future, as several sources remind us today. Four days ago, CD Projekt RED posted on GamesJobs an announcement to recruit new collaborators with, at the top of the list, a qualified open world designer with at least two years of experience.

From the outset, some began to think of Cyberpunk 2077 for which CD Projekt RED still has to provide multiple content through, in particular, DLCs mentioned long before the launch of the game. but that our colleagues from Gamerant consider “unlikely”.

CD Projekt RED has already published recent job offers around the Cyberpunk 2077 project: the game was then expressly named and it is quite difficult to see why the studio would want to put a little mystery around the development of the game.

Would CD Projekt be working on a cRPG?

Many fans are already hoping that this new announcement is more about The Witcher franchise which is eagerly awaited news. The Witcher 4 seems well and truly on track and many avenues - such as the continuation of Ciri's adventures - are possible, but CD Projekt RED has not revealed anything concrete yet.

Other sources like to believe that it could be a cRPG project. It is true that in its announcement, the studio insists on a certain experience in the field. Still, this genre is only mentioned in addition to other qualifications, in the development of open worlds or a passion for the systems put in place in “paper” role-playing games.

Alongside these guesses, it could be that the studio is simply looking to bolster its current teams as next-gen versions of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 are still in development.
