Brand new opportunities are opening up for Bungie following the announcement of its takeover by Sony earlier this week. The American studio will remain mainly mobilized on the front of video games, but should also explore other horizons.

If it will not lead to exclusives, the acquisition of Bungie is strategic for PlayStation. The Japanese firm will pocket both all the technologies of the studio but also its know-how in terms of service games. However, this rapprochement will also have advantages in the other direction since the developers of Destiny aim much further than the simple prism of the video game.

Destiny soon on our screens?

During a conference call with investors, Hiroki Totoki, an official at Sony, was asked about the nature of the benefits that Bungie will receive following this famous acquisition. According to Totoki, the studio wants to take its licenses (and especially Destiny) beyond the video game industry. The main interested party precisely evokes the possibility of seeing films or even series flourish on the side of Bungie.

The Japanese multinational wishes to support the studio teams in this process via its Sony Pictures and Music subsidiaries. In addition, we also learned that $1,2 billion will be spent in the coming years to ensure that Bungie employees remain and work comfortably within the studio.
