A little time travel: we are in 2008 and Ubisoft announces that Beyond Good & Evil 2 has started its pre-production phase. But for 13 years now, statements about the project have given us the feeling that we haven't budged an inch.
So much so that we have the impression that the game is bogged down in its development, which would not be surprising given the recent publications around the studios of the Spanish publisher.

A communication that goes on a loop
It all started during the Ubidays 2008 conference when the publisher announced that a sequel to the first part, critical success but financial failure, would indeed see the light of day. But since then, the statements on the development of Beyond Good & Evil 2 have all of the broken record.
In 2010, Ubisoft already indicated that the development of the second episode was following its course. Two years later, Yves Guillemot announced, conversely, that he was impacted by the work to be done on the Rayman franchise.
We will have to wait for E3 2017 to finally see the title through a cutscene of about 4 minutes, and the 2018 edition to see what comes out of it… through a pre-alpha gameplay section, 10 years after the start of pre-production.
Today, the same story from Ubisoft and even blurry, reinforced by the departure of creative director Michel Ancel last year, around the project. The publisher confirms that development is still ongoing.
Curious to learn more, PC Gamer journalists tried to find out if there was the possibility of seeing the game appear during the fiscal year 2024, that is between April 2023 and March 2024. But again, journalists hit a wall. Frederick Duguet, Chief Financial Officer, replied that it was "too early to tell you more at this stage", and Yves Guillemot added that there is "a lot of progress in this team and the game is progressing very well ".
