Denuvo quietly added by Warner Bros. ?

Developed at Turtle Rock Studios and published by Warner Bros. Games, Back 4 Blood is often presented as a Left 4 Dead 3 that does not say its name. The game's Steam page was recently updated, and the mention "Third-party digital rights management: Denuvo Anti-tamper" would suddenly appear without the publisher or the studio communicating about it. According to our colleagues from DSO Gaming, this was not present until then, and it may cause a few teeth to cringe…

The software, which is part of the DRM family, has indeed the reputation of having a negative effect on the games using it. Denuvo was particularly singled out for the jerkiness problems encountered on the PC version of Deathloop, even if ultimately the problem seemed to come from elsewhere. However, it is common to see developers withdraw protection after a few weeks or months of marketing, in order to satisfy their community. As a reminder, Denuvo is directly integrated into the game code, and aims to prevent, or at least slow down, the modification or copying of files.

Back 4 Blood is due October 12 on PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), as well as on PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X| S.
