Soon the end for Anthem?
Indeed, if we believe the information of the journalist Jason Schreier published in the columns of Bloomberg, Electronic Arts will decide the fate of the redesign of Anthem this week. The source who remained anonymous specifies that the editor will make a first assessment concerning this Anthem Next before deciding if more resources are allocated to the project or if it is better to cancel it.
Bloomberg adds that a very small team of about 30 people are working on the redesign, which isn't enough to add content. According to the sources, at least triple the current workforce would be needed to ensure long-term development. For the moment, EA did not wish to comment on this rumor.
What do we think of it at Clubic?
It might be time to admit that Anthem will never recover from its disastrous launch. The redesign is likely to require a lot of time and resources from Bioware, a studio already very busy on the next Dragon Age as well as on a new Mass Effect announced at the Game Awards.
After having chained the against-performances on its last two games, Bioware no longer has the right to make mistakes and must imperatively concentrate on the essentials. And Anthem hasn't been a priority for a very long time...
